This book club is exactly how it’s advertised, any book! So bring your favorite book or the book you are reading right now and tell us all about it. All books are welcome! Snacks will be provided, but you are welcome to bring a snack to share with the group. Registration is required. This program is open to youth in grades 2-5. Youth are welcome to attend independently but those under the age of 10 will need a caregiver to stay in the building.

Pack your cauldrons and cage up your owls we’re traveling to the magical world of Harry Potter! Join us for crafts, activities, and discussion all about the Boy Who Lived. We’ll be generally discussing the series at each meeting, so even those who are still working their way through are welcome to attend. We’ll do our best to avoid spoilers. No registration required, this is a drop-in program. Snacks and all supplies are provided!

The nonprofit organization, Nobscot Reading Association, will hold its fall literacy event. The topic, trauma-informed literacy instruction, will be of wide appeal to the community and educators in the Milford Public Schools and surrounding school districts. 

For youths in grades 2-5 with their caregivers

Creepy crafts and gruesome games await you in the haunted library! R. L. Stine fans and other horror enthusiasts will have a great time at our (age appropriate!) party for all things Goosebumps. No registration required. This is a drop-in program, patrons are welcome to arrive at any point during the listed program times to participate. 

Writer and researcher Lisa Santoro will discuss the 1927 trial of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, Italian immigrants and anarchists who were executed for the murder of two men in an attempted robbery. The case gripped the nation and the world and many now believe they were wrongfully executed.

Can you solve the puzzles to alohomora the door and free yourself from the room before the sand in the hourglass runs out? Puzzles and riddles are best suited to youth age 8+ but all ages are welcome with caregiver assistance. Familiarity with Harry Potter characters is necessary for success. All aboard the Hogwarts Express! Get ready for fall with our cozy Harry Potter Saturday crafts. Visit the apothecary, make a glow-in-the-dark mini broomstick or your very own owl, enjoy some snacks, and watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone with us! No registration is required. Stephen Quandt of Feline Behavior Associates will explain cat behavior from the perspective of the evolutionary and adaptive forces that drive cat behavior and help shape their lives including the cycle of predation, the scale of confidence, the mother-kitten relationship between humans and cats and finally how food affects cats and our relationships with them. Participants in this Zoom workshop will have an opportunity to ask questions about their own cats and why they do what they do!

Glass artist Deenie Pacik Guiliano of Vindauga Glass will lead a hands-on workshop to create custom coasters or suncatchers. Participants will be guided throughout the process of making these unique and beautiful pieces using Wissmach Fusible 96 COE glass including dichroic glass, chopped glass (frit) and colorful paints. Deenie then takes the pieces to her studio to be fired in the kiln. The completed artwork will be ready for pickup at the library soon after. Registration is required and the fee for materials is $10 for members and $20 for non-members.
